As this new normal and the adjustment period rolls on and on - side note: hope you’re all staying safe and well and thinking of your community first and foremost! - I thought I spend more time in the past and relive another beloved L&L wedding!

Today, I wanted to show you this beautiful sunny day from Duncan & Bex last September. It holds a special place in my heart, as one of my first memories as a child is meeting Duncan, when we were both wobbly toddlers at the same church group. I remember meeting Bex for the first time when we were in our late teens, and after being together for qutie some time - through school, university and at times, long distances between them - it was a total joy, and not a compleeeeete surprise, when Bex messaged me to say her and Dunc were engaged. I was totally honoured and so excited to provide them the flowers for their Wedding.

Bex initially got in contact just under a year before their wedding, and had a very clear vision in mind - SUNFLOWERS. Perfect for their September wedding, she liked the idea of yellows, blues, whites and a great mix of foliages to round out her bouquet. Even though we weren’t going to include roses at the beginning, once we had discussed a bit more, we thought they would be the perfect flower to soften the bouquets. They looked amazing along with the craspedia, veronica, solidago, waxflower and thistle for that pop of blue. We wanted to keep a rustic and paired back feel, so we styled the bouquet to be a great medium size and bound in hessian ribbon.

For the bridesmaids, we took out the roses and just made sunflowers the focus, which packed a punch against their powder blue dresses. For the buttonholes, we decided one a stem of the craspedia, thistle and waxflower, bound in hessian would be a great finishing touch for the groomsmen, with an added rose for the Groom. The venue was decorated by Bex and Dunc’s family (and it looked stunning), and so when I had a few stems left over from making the bridal party’s flowers, I gifted them to the couple to use as they pleased. I hate waste, and it was great to see the finished product when I came to celebrate their marriage later on that day. With the reception in Bex’s family home, you could really tell everyone had helped and it was made all the more special because of it.

And with that, I’ll end on the wonderful and lovely words from the couple themselves. If I was to sum up this wedding in one word it would be family. From the moment I met Dunc and Bex, however long ago that was, I was part of the family, and when putting together their wedding, that was the feeling I got from the day. Everywhere you looked, everyone was involved, everyone was a unit, everyone was there together for these guys marriage, and committed to being there for them as one big happy and loving family. It was such a great opportunity to joyfully play. Can’t wait till this is all over and I can come see you guys - missing you D&B!

‘Hannah made picking the flowers for our bouquets and buttonholes so simple, providing creative suggestions and listening to our ideas to bring our September wedding a splash of colour with her beautiful blooms! We could not have asked for a better florist, Hannah, thank you so so much for making our wonderful day even brighter!’
