Wedding Trends - Creating Your Own Sunshine
Mondays, Mondaze - am I right? If you’re like me, and find Mondays the hardest to get out of bed for, hopefully this post will give you a little pep in your step!
If happiness were a colour, it'd be yellow. And since your wedding day will likely be one of the happiest of your life, adding the sunny hue to your décor is especially apt. While mustard was everywhere a few years ago, it’s now popping up more and more in weddings. From light lemon hues, to deep ochres, it can be so versatile for your big day - much to peoples surprise!
The flower choices are also endless, and pretty much available in any season - a big win win in my book. Early in the year, look out for delicate Narcissi, Tulips and Ranunculus to fill your day, and later on, I’m a lover of Dahlias, and the underrated Zinnia. There are always Roses and Gerberas in a variety of tones to suit your taste, and if you just want a little hint of yellow, mostly white flowers like Tanacetum and Daisies can bring that spark. Yellow is also incredibly compatible with most colours, from pastels, to blues, to greys, to deep autumnal shades and even metallics - the possibilities are endless. As you can see from Dunc & Bex’s day below, they used the classic Sunflower to brighten up their days, mixed with some gorgeous blues and whites, and it was perfect for their September wedding.
It doesn’t just have to be your flowers either! One of the greatest things about incorporating this colour into your day, is that you don’t always need a lot of it for it to make a statement. Whether its a touch on your stationary, the linens your adorn your table with, the shoe that peeks out from under your dress, or the colour of your signature cocktails (hello limoncello), a splash of this shade makes a big statement. Whether you go big on this shade, or the more subtle route, bring a bit of sunshine to your happiest day with a touch of yellow.
