Wedding Trends - Geometric

Another day, another new series blooming on this blog!

I know it might seem a bit odd with everything going on to be chatting about Wedding Trends for this year, however, with COVID pushing celebrations back to the end of the 2020 or even into 2021, we’ll see trends being around a lot longer than expected. With all this time at home, why not begin planning your big day and get dreaming - I hope these posts give you some inspiration if you’re unsure where to begin with the wide world of flowers!

Today we are talking all about the Geometric trend, which has been growing in popularity over the past few years, and how to bring interesting shapes to add some luxe dimension to your day. Not a direction for the faint hearted, but it can really pack a punch and give a focal point to your theme. We’re seeing a lot of couples incorporate shapes into aisles, their reception layouts and even in their bouquets and smaller details - see the stunning aisle above from Gareth and Sophie’s wedding we did in December!

It matched their modern setting perfectly, so if you’re wedding location is a trendy art gallery, or a loft (sooo New York), this might be the perfect fit for you. Weddings are all about juxtaposition - showing off both sides of your personalities - so mixing dynamic angles with a softer palette or textiles will create a unique style perfect for you, and keep your guests gushing all day!

Whether you decide to go for a more natural wood feel, or to bring in metallics and go for a more industrial style, it’s really easy to include this trend. Geometric aisle ends and structures can have flowers wrapped around them, hanging off them - they could be the holders for the flowers themselves! Maybe drape some geo lanterns from the ceiling, or line the entrance with geometric shapes and boxes to hold your Orders of Service.

If a big statement isn’t you’re thing, why not rethink the table decorations - something as small as plate shapes, candle holders or vases can make all the difference. Instead of just vases in the middle of your tables, why not geometric bird cages with foliage and flowers for a living centrepiece vibe. Circular tables a bit boring? Why not try hexagonal ones! Or if you wanna pack more than flavour into your food, maybe a angular cake is your answer… It’s as dynamic and it is stunning.
