LETS CATCH UP

Oh hello there - been a while, hasn’t it?

What started out as a Covid (I promise to abstain as much as possible from mentioning this word repeatedly in these blog posts) hobby, in the absence of work and weddings and in the need to create, fell away when life opened up again. I’m sure there’s very few of you who missed it, however, as I put more focus on my wedding and event business, I have felt the need to create more and more, and so A Blog in Bloom is making a come back baby!

Considering my last post was all the way back in October 2020, there’s a fair bit to catch you up on. There’s been a lot of personal lows for us all in this period, learning that heartbreak can come in many forms, but also there’s been so much growth.

I took the time to really step back and realise what I wanted and what makes me happy, which was a long, sometimes tough and really eye opening experience. I stuck out 8 months back at my full time florist job, before realising that I just had too many weddings and events to keep juggling both sides of my life. The week of my Birthday in April last year, I handed in my notice, and went full time freelance. It was exciting, but it was also terrifying. I knew what I was doing, but I also felt like I was leaping off a cliff into a hopeful but still uncertain future.

26 weddings later, that feeling hasn’t necessarily gone, but at least now I know that it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve been able to do more, make more, meet more people, spend more time with my couples, dream bigger and both say ‘yes’ but also ‘no’ to more. The space to grow and make amazing work for the benefit and joy of my couples has been nothing short of life changing and affirming. It’s made me fall in love with floristry all over again, and made me genuinely approach each new wedding with joy and wonder.

For what this year holds? I don’t quite know.
We’ve got some beautiful weddings, venues and couples coming up, and more being dreamt with and booked in as I type, of course. But around that, I feel like my body is craving a ‘Me’ year. This might look like taking a proper break every so often, or pricing myself what I'm truly worth, or just being able to take every opportunity that excites me, and knowing to turn down ones that don’t.
I’ll be asking you all more what you might want (follow me on Instagram if you’d like a say) - Mother’s Day products? Year round products? The list goes on…Watch this space.

If you have any questions, themes or topics you’d like to see me write about, drop me a DM or comment below!

Thank you for your continuing support and love, without you guys, who knows where L&L would be now.
Bring on 2022 - more of all things blooming.
